Phuket Airport

Phuket Airport is an important transport hub that serves thousands of people daily. In terms of the number of passengers carried, it takes 2nd place in the Kingdom of Siam. Here, planes take off and land, flying both within the country and around the world. Here are some tips to keep in mind.

The building was renovated in the summer of 2015, the infrastructure and appearance were improved. It offers travelers 3 floors and 2 terminals: local (right) and international (left). Arrivals are served on the 1st floor, departures – on the 2nd, offices are located on the 3rd.

Get ready to stand in line. The immigration control officer works in a mode convenient for him. Even if you manage to quickly put the coveted stamp in your passport, you will have to wait for luggage. So relax and think about the upcoming vacation.

Important! There are 2 baggage claim points: international and local. If you arrived in transit, you need to receive bags and suitcases in the international hall.

What to do if baggage is lost?

Do not panic and scandal. Contact the airport employee at the baggage desk, explain the situation. You will be given papers that need to be filled out in English as accurately as possible for an early search for the loss. Indicate the name, surname, address of residence, make a description of backpacks, bags, etc.

You will be given a yellow copy of the receipt. An employee at the hotel you are staying in will be kept up to date with the success of the search operation.

If you did not book a transfer in advance, you have 5 ways to leave the airport.

Limousine service
It is not as expensive as it might seem at first glance. The rack is located directly at the exit. The cost of the trip depends on the distance to the destination. On average, 1,000 to 1,200 baht will have to be posted. An air-conditioned car will take you to the hotel quickly and with maximum comfort.

Taxi meter
Parking is outside the airport. You need to exit the terminal, turn right and walk to the end of the building. The price of the trip consists of the meter reading plus 100 baht airport tax.

Mini bass
This is a budget and popular way to get to the hotel. Buses go to all the beaches of the island. The trip will cost 200 baht per person. There are 10 seats in the cabin, you have to wait a bit until they are all full, only after that the driver will hit the road.

Rented car
The car rental office is equipped behind the domestic airline terminal. If you arrived at the international terminal, you need to leave the building, turn right, passing the customs, you will see the logos of the companies that provide rental cars. Give preference to famous brands. So a Honda car rental will cost 1,000 baht per day, including insurance. If you need a GPS, add another 100 baht per day.

City buses
This is the cheapest and longest way to get to the right place. A ticket costs 85 baht. The stop is located in the area of the restaurant Burger King. Buses run from 6:30 to 21:30.

The approximate distance from Phuket Airport to the main beaches. Travel time varies from the selected vehicle:

Phuket Town – 33 km (40 min.)
Patong – 38 km (1 h.)
Kata – 47 km (1 h. 15 min.)
Karon – 43 km 1 h 10 min.)
Rawai – 48 km (1 h. 15 min.)
Panwa – 44 km (1 h. 10 min.)
Bangtao – 21 km (30 min.)
Kamala – 27 km (35 minutes)
Chalong – 40 km (50 min.)
Surin – 23 km (30 min.)
Exchange euros and dollars to baht is not a big deal. With rubles, everything is a little more complicated. The Russian currency does not inspire Thais much confidence, therefore not every bank accepts it, and the rate cannot be called profitable. Official exchange offices are located on the 1st floor. The course is almost the same as on the beach.

ATMs are located on the 1st and 2nd floors.

Despite the presence of 2 terminals, the entrance to the airport is one. It is equipped with a scanner, a team for screening passengers and baggage works, so you have to wait in line for about 20 minutes.

The international flights lounge is large and comfortable. There are cafes, duty free shops, souvenir shops. The most popular goods are exotic dried fruits and flowers. The schedule board is clearly visible from almost anywhere.

Important! Smoking in the airport building is strictly prohibited. This can only be done on the street in specially equipped places at the exit of each terminal.

Important! If you fly to your homeland through Bangkok, then you need to pick up your luggage in the international terminal, and not in the domestic terminal where you landed. This is done for the convenience of passengers so that they carry less heavy bags.
