Phuket’s Best Food Markets

The market of any country can tell a lot about its citizens, for example, gastronomic addictions, financial situation, habits and customs. Markets in Asia, including Phuket, is a separate adventure that, in addition to tangible shopping at affordable prices, offers an extravaganza of aromas and tastes.

Colorful, noisy, full of exotic goods, bazaars will surely please guests of the Kingdom of Siam.

BANZAAN, PATONG

The market is located on Sai Cor Road, just behind Jungceylon Shopping Center. The building was designed in tandem with European architects. It is functional, comfortable and imbued with national color, which is dominated by Chinese motifs. The sanctuary of Hawk Sien Tua, located at the entrance, is revered by immigrants from the Middle Kingdom.

Along the food stalls you can take a walk like on an excursion. All kinds of fruits, fresh seafood, vegetables, meat, spices, sweets are presented here. Prices are quite humane.

On the second floor there is a food court, where small restaurants serve various Asian dishes. Be sure to order freshly squeezed juice from mango, guava or other exotic fruit.

There are tents with counterfeit Chinese goods, which should not be subject to special requirements in terms of quality.

Officially, Banzaan is open from 7 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. But by 7 p.m. tents are growing around the building, street cafes and trade resumes.

CHERNG TALAY MARKET, CHERNG TALAY

Located opposite the police station, on the road leading to the Laguna Phuket hotel complex, Cherng Talai Market is considered one of the busiest on the island. The main products are fresh vegetables, fruits, meat and seafood.

Ranong Road is the main shopping street of Phuket Town. It is the island’s oldest market, operating without breaks and weekends.

Here you can buy any food, including fruits and vegetables. In addition to local residents, here you can find downshifters who have moved to warm Thailand, as well as tourists looking for exotic.

TALAD SOD SATARAN, PHUKET TOWN

This is another attraction on Ranong Road. The market is a large building, rebuilt in 2009. Any products and goods that you can imagine are sold here. On the walls there are detailed signs in Thai and English, indicating where to go in search of souvenirs, fruits, vegetables, clothes, fish, etc.

Separately placed tents with snacks, dried seafood, tea, coffee and pastries. The side wall of the building acts as a stop, where convenient places are arranged for waiting for the blue bus – the main public transport of the island.

KAMALA MARKET, KAMALA

This market grows every Wednesday and Saturday at the foot of the hill separating the areas of Kamala and Patong. From about 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. there is brisk trade along the road.

Kamala Market is a miniature demonstration of everyday life in southern Thailand. Here is a great selection of local products. In addition to fruits, vegetables, meat and fish, there are rows with clothes and accessories that have long become an invariable attribute of every point of trade.

PORPING, KATA

This large market, located opposite the Chaba Phuket Resort, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. several times a week. Poring is in the open air, there are no asphalt paths, the roof is a separate polyethylene canvas stretched between the tents. If you got here in the rainy season, be prepared to wash clothes and wash shoes after walking along the shelves.

At the entrance there are stands with clothes, but not she is the main property of the market. Take a few steps forward and you will feel tantalizing aromas. Improvised fast food cafes offer chicken and grilled duck, spring rolls with fillings. Always available crabs, mussels, fish and squid, cooked in many ways.
